Matthew 2:1-14, Luke 2:8-20, the shepherds came to the manger by gift, but the Wise Men came by stature. King Herod was a descendant of Esau. The Wise Men came knocking on every door in Jerusalem looking for the King. Herod had a threefold witness of Jesus: (1) Heard by rumor through the shepherds by gift, (2) Scribes and Pharisees told of his birth in Bethlehem, (3) His diligent inquiry of the Wise Men.
