In this study, under the Requirements of Discipleship, we learn that a Disciple must be as the Master. He must learn to hate or to “love less” his relationships with all other creatures, in comparison to his relationship with Jesus Christ. A true Disciple must be willing to bear his Cross, and he must forsake all.
The requirements of Discipleship deal basically with inner attitudes and commitments that must be made by the individual. However, Discipleship is not just an inward thing. There are outward, visible evidences that make a true Disciple of Jesus Christ recognizable. A Disciple continues in the Word of the Master; he loves the brethren; he loves in deed and in Truth; and he bears living fruit that is a witness of the Love Relationship that he has with the LORD Jesus Christ.
As individuals, we must make a decision as to whether we will follow Jesus Christ and become a Disciple or take our own way. The choice is ours alone.
