This message continues the study of the Spiritual Tabernacle. It covers the first thing that Jesus dealt with on the Table of Shewbread side—inward purity—(Matthew 5:27-30). Only the Priests had access to the Table of Shewbread, and that was only if they were clean and had met the conditions that were necessary for them to enter the Holy Place. This pictured us spiritually. If there are things wrong with us spiritually, and if we hold things in our hearts and minds, we may hide them from man; however, we will not hide them from God, and God will not allow us to enter the Holy Place and to eat. No one can eat of this pure, holy Bread without his having inward purity. We must allow God to judge, to circumcise, to sanctify, and to crucify our old heart.

This lesson gives four examples of people in the Old Testament who allowed the lust of their eyes to cause them to commit either outward or inward adultery—Reuben, Potiphar’s Wife, Samson, and King David—and it covers what their adultery cost them.

In Matthew 5:29 and 30, the eye speaks of the heart, that which provokes the thing in the heart, looking first. Then, the hand speaks of the touch, the deed, or the act going forth.
