This message continues the study of Jesus’ Spiritual Tabernacle and the Commandment (Matthew 5:15 and 16) for us to eat of the Bread of the Burning of Christ’s Resurrection Power and of the Bread of Shining. If we will eat of the Bread of the Resurrected Christ, a burning Fire will begin to burn within our soul, and we will love, shine, burn, and be a salty influence that will cause others to thirst for the Living Waters.
In Matthew, chapter 11, Jesus asked the Pharisees three questions concerning John the Baptist and in doing so, He showed them John’s nature. This lesson gives the life of John the Baptist as an example of his being this burning and shining Light to his own people, Israel. Before we can be a burning and shining Light that is set on a hill that shines out to the lost world, we must be a burning and shining Light to the people who are round about us, to our own brothers and sisters in Christ and to our own household. This lesson gives the following statures of Truth concerning John the Baptist’s life: (1) John’s Message, (2) John’s Proclamation of Christ’s Ministry, (3) The Multitude to Whom John Preached, and (4) John’s Meat and Dress.
