This message continues the study of the section of Jesus’ Spiritual Tabernacle that belongs to the Table of Shewbread (Matthew 5:13-30) and covers Jesus’ command for us to be a city that is set on a hill (Matthew 5:14).
It gives the names and meanings of the six cities of refuge that God commanded Joshua to set upon hills that were a refuge from the avenger of blood for any person who had killed another unawares and unwittingly (Joshua 20:1-9). God wants us to be like a city that is set upon a hill and for us to live such holy lives that the Rays of the Holiness of Jesus Christ will flow out through our lives so that people who are wallowing in sin and who feel death breathing down their neck can flee unto us. He wants for us to have enough Light, Power, and Holiness of Jesus Christ to minister God’s Word to them so that they can be saved and delivered from sin and from those things that are displeasing to God!
This message also shows how the New Jerusalem that the Apostle John wrote about in Revelation 21:9-11 will be a City set on a hill that will give Light to all the nations to walk therein. Her Light will be like jasper that puts a wall, as it were, a gulf, round about her. This Light will go out constantly, a City set on a hill. It will remind all of the price that the Bride paid to go on and to be one with Jesus Christ and of the polished, prevailing Power of the enthroned One Who fought against His enemies of which she had to lay hold. This City will also have the Light of the Lamb and the Glory of God, the Light of the Crucified Christ and the Light of the Resurrected Christ (Revelation 21:22,23).
