The text for this lesson is Genesis 6:1-9, which give a sevenfold picture of God’s action concerning the people of Noah’s day: (1) The LORD said, “My Spirit shall not always strive with man, (2) God numbered man’s days to be 120 years, (3) God saw that man’s wickedness was great and every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was evil continually, (4) God repented that He had made man, (5) God grieved in His Heart that He had made man, (6) God’s Word went forth: “I will destroy man, beast, creeping things, and the fowls of the air, which picture our fleshly man, beastly spirits in our attitudes, i,e., giraffe spirits that are high minded, the lion and leopard spirits that like to rent, to tear, and to devour, the creeping green serpents of jealously and strife, and the snail spirits of gossip.
This lesson gives the stature of four things that God said concerning Noah: (1) Noah found Grace, (2) Noah was a Just Man, (3) Noah was Perfect, and (4) Noah Walked with God. He had grown up to completion and perfection in the LORD, and he walked hand in hand with God. He kept the same pace and did not go ahead of or lag behind God.
