This message continues the study of the section of Jesus’ Spiritual Tabernacle that belongs to the Table of Shewbread (Matthew 5:13-30) and covers Matthew 5:13 where Jesus said that we are the salt of the Earth. Salt is used for (1) A Covenant, (2) To Season, (3) For Healing, and (4) For Purging. There are four things that God said are to be seasoned with Salt. The first one is Our Bread and Meat Offerings of Praise and Thanksgiving. Unless our sacrifices of praise and thanksgiving that we heave up and wave before the LORD are seasoned with the Life and Power of Jesus, they do not mean anything to God. God promised to give us Bread and Meat; however, it is up to us to keep the Bread and Meat seasoned with Jesus Christ’s Life, Power, Zest, and Zeal. Without these things, they will be tasteless to the people to whom we witness and testify. The second thing that is to be seasoned with Salt is our Self. The Salt of Jesus—that Zest, Life, and Power—will season even the self in us so that rather than our having that spirit of strife, enmity, bitterness, and criticism, we will have some seasoning in ourself, which will produce peace in us, and we will not offend a little one in either the natural or spiritual realm. We will want to be like Jesus, and we will not be concerned about position. The third thing to be seasoned with salt is our Speech. In Colossians 4:6, the Apostle Paul said for us to let our speech be seasoned with salt so that we may know how we should answer every man. The fourth thing to be seasoned with salt is our Being. A lot of times, we gripe, complain, and murmur that everything is wrong and no one is right. When we are in that kind of shape, we need to have some of this good Salt that is like a purgative that will purge through our being and cleanse us.

This lesson also covers the stature of the Pattern of Purging. The things that will be purged are: (1) the Priesthood (Malachi 3:3), (2) His Floor (Matthew 3:12, (3) The Self. The LORD will purge us of self until we can rejoice in Christ’s sufferings, and (4) Man’s Works (First Corinthians 3:12-15).
