(Good Friday sermon) Our text is from the four Gospels and covers Jesus attitude and actions among His friends, among the religious crowd, at the political scene, and on the Cross during the Passover Week. Even though Jesus knew that Judas would betray Him, He washed Judas’ feet just the same as He washed the feet of the other eleven Disciples. When Judas betrayed Jesus with a kiss in the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus still called him, “Friend.” Among His friends, Jesus was loving, compassionate, humble, and forgiving. Among the religious crowd, Jesus was quiet, peaceable, humble, and patient. At the political scene, Jesus was speechless and surrendered before both Pilate and King Herod, and on the Cross, Jesus was forgiving, humble, surrendered, and compassionate. Wherever we look, beloved, we see a Ministry of Jesus and of His Precious Nature. We need to kneel down and to ask Him to show us where we are not like Him. If we are honest about the whole thing, when our friends betray us, we feel a hurt, a drawing back, and a block inside us somewhere, which shows us that we need to be more like Jesus. We need to cry out and to ask Jesus to make us more like Him.
