This lesson is an introduction to the Spiritual Tabernacle or to the Sermon on the Mount, as some people call it, that Jesus preached in Matthew, chapters 5 through 7. We call this sermon Jesus’ Spiritual Tabernacle because that is exactly where it fits. When God gave the Old Testament Tabernacle to Moses, He began with the instructions concerning the Ark of the Covenant which represents the Head realm of Jesus Christ’s Spiritual Stature. Then, He went on down to the Table of Shewbread, to the Candlestick, and to the Altar of Incense. Then, He went on down to the Laver and to the Brazen Altar at the Feet, which is where you and I are. When Jesus gave the Spiritual Tabernacle, He began exactly as the Father had begun at the Head with the Blesseds and worked His way down until He reached the Feet at the Brazen Altar. When we begin to go on for God, we cannot begin at the Head of Jesus’ Spiritual Stature. We must humble ourselves and go to His Feet and allow Jesus to take us up in spiritual growth in the Knowledge of our Lovely LORD and Saviour Jesus. Therefore, this lesson begins our study of the Spiritual Tabernacle at the Feet. Then, we will back up, as it were, from the 7th chapter of Matthew to the 5th chapter, which will take us to the Head of our LORD’s Spiritual Stature.

At the bottom of Jesus’ Spiritual Tabernacle, we find the Law. Law means to shoot forth, to direct, to guide, to point forward. We need the Law of the Foundation, which is that Jesus is the Rock upon which we must build. In Matthew 7:24 and 25, Jesus likened His obedient servants to a man who built his house upon the Rock, Who was Christ. Our spiritual Foundation is threefold— the Blood, the Spirit, and the Water—and each part is necessary. If our Foundation is built upon the Blood, the Spirit, and the Water, all the rains of afflictions, testings, and trials and all the floods of fleshly passions, fears, and grief
and all the winds of doctrine cannot bring down our spiritual House. This lesson also covers the Law of Fruit that Jesus gave in Matthew 7:15-23. God’s true servants are known by the Fruits of God’s Spirit, which are Love, Joy, Peace, Longsuffering, Gentleness, Goodness, Faith, Meekness, and Temperance (Galatians 5:22,23).
