The birth of Jesus Christ pictures to us the greatest of all humility, the Humility of our Saviour. He, Who was the God of Eternity Whom Heaven and Earth could not contain, humbled Himself and came down into a little span that was just so long and confined Himself into a Body, into a little Babe in a manger. Jesus was not born in sin. He was born in purity and holiness; yet, the minute that He was born, He came under the subjection and the yoke to bear our sin.
This message covers the stature of Jesus’ Humiliation that the prophet Simeon beheld as he held Jesus when He was presented to the LORD in the Temple when He was at least forty days old: (1) Jesus surrendered to circumcision and subjected Himself to be under the Law, (2) In the Temple, a human arm presented Him to God as though He were a stranger Who did not know God, (3) In the Temple, He was redeemed with five shekels as though there had been a separation between Him and God, and (4) As He grew, He was in subjection to a human being that He had created. This lesson covers the Witnesses to Jesus’ Birth. These people saw Jesus at different stages in His life: (1) The Shepherds (Luke 2:8-20), (2) The Prophet Simeon (Luke 2:21-35), (3) The Prophetess Anna (Luke 2:36-38), and (4) The Wise Men (Matthew 2:1-12,16). It also gives the Heavenly Witness that appeared to each one of these witnesses: (1) The Angel to the Shepherds, (2) The Holy Ghost to Simeon, (3) The Holy Ghost to Anna, and (4) The Star of David to the Wise Men. Where there is humiliation, there is always exaltation. If we follow Jesus, we will experience humiliation; however, if we have the Holy Ghost, we will always experience Him as we go through every trial and climb every mountain.
