(Christmas) This lesson reviews the Witnesses to Jesus’ Birth: (1) The Shepherds (Luke 2:8-20), (2) The Prophet Simeon (Luke 2:21-35), (3) The Prophetess Anna (Luke 2:36-38), and (4) The Wise Men (Matthew 2:1-12,16). It also covers four things concerning the Star that appeared to the wise men: (1) It was a Prophetic Star which prophesied to the wise men where they were to go, what the office of the Babe would be, of what people He would be, and Who He was. (2) It was a Manifesting Star. When the Star appeared unto the wise men, there was something about that Star that affected them. They saw a glimpse of Christ’s Glory, and the Rays of that Glory caused something to take place in their heart so that they left their astrology and their magicianship and began their long journey to find the One Who owned that Star. By faith, they began their journey because the Glory, the Light, of the Star had manifested itself unto them and had brought change in their heart. (3) It was a Guiding Star. It led them to where the young Child was, and (4) It was a Joyous Star. It prepared their hearts for the worship that they were going to give the Christ Child.

This message shows us the four things that the wise men gave to Jesus: (1) Their worship of love and adoration, (2) Gold, which pictured His Deity, (3) Frankincense, which pictured His Life of Faith, and (4) Myrrh, which pictured His Humility. Regardless of what treasures we may present unto God, whether it is our gold, frankincense of faith, our myrrh of humility, or our service, before we present our treasures, God wants our worship of love and adoration first. The Apostle Paul said “[T]hough I have all faith, so that I could move mountains and have not charity [love], I am nothing (I Corinthians 13:2). All of our offerings should be founded upon our worship and love of the LORD.
