Our text is Acts 2:38. Our old heart, which is begotten after Adam and is full of sin, goes after the world, the flesh, and the Devil. That is all that it knows. When we receive Jesus Christ’s Blood in our old heart, we receive a New Heart, and His Blood breaks the power of original sin. Then, we are set toward the LORD. Nevertheless, that does not mean that there are not things that rise up from our old heart, mind, attitude, and disposition that go out through our tongue that are not of God. God’s Word says that there is remission of sins by both the Blood and the Water or the Name, and both of these rivers—the River of Blood and the River of Water—flow behind God’s Back into that great Sea of God’s Forgetfulness and Forgiveness. When we go down into the Baptismal Water that has been anointed with the Name of the LORD Jesus Christ, we take all this sin and bury our old heart that is inside our body in the Water, and we say, “Jesus, I surrender this thing to your Name and to your Death,” and His Name is released to us. Then, we rise out of the Water and continue to lay hold of God’s Word, and the Waters of His Name, which are in His Word, continue to rise and to possess our land.

The Apostle Paul said, “I die daily.” To what did he die? He died to his flesh, the things in him that were at enmity against God. Only the Holy Ghost can reveal and show these things to us, which is why the Bible says that we do not even know our own hearts. The Apostle Paul never wanted to turn back. The Blood was there, and he moved on to the Waters of the LORD’s Name. However, we will not receive the Waters of the LORD’s Name very much inwardly until we are willing to confess His Name outwardly. Water Baptism in the Name of the LORD Jesus Christ is necessary (Acts 2:38). It is part of our spiritual foundation, and we cannot go further in Jesus Christ’s Spiritual Stature without this experience. Jesus said, “[E]xcept a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter the Kingdom of God” (John 3:5).
