The Book of Ephesians gives a stature of the fourfold working of God’s Power. The first point of that stature is: (1) The Working of God’s Will (Ephesians 1:3-11). God works according to His Will, the Good Pleasure of His Will, the Mystery of His Will, and the Counsel of His Will. The second point of this stature is: (2) The Working of God’s Mighty Holy Ghost Power (Ephesians 1:13-23), which took Jesus out of the grave, lifted Him way above all principality, might, power, dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come, and put all things under His Feet. God gave us the Holy Ghost as a down payment to assure us that if we continue with Him and are faithful, when He comes again, that same Resurrection Power of the Holy Ghost that transformed Jesus’ physical Body into a Glorified Body will transform and glorify our body and give us a body just like His. The third point of this stature is: (3) The Working of God’s Creative Power (Ephesians 2:10). We are created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. When God created the Earth, Genesis says that His Spirit moved (brooded in Hebrew) over that chaotic Earth. Then, God sent His Word along. When God’s Spirit and His Word get together, we have the Image and the Spiritual Stature of the LORD Jesus Christ because He was the Word and the Spirit in Flesh. The fourth point is: (4) The Working of God’s Headship (Ephesians 4:11-16). The Head cannot control until we have grown up and are in contact with it.
God set Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors, and Teachers in the church so that we might be perfected in Him, and we need everyone of them to grow up into maturity and to be no longer children who are tossed to and fro. When these ministries are in contact with the Head—Christ—they receive of God’s Mind and Will and speak the Truth in love, which nourishes the rest of the Body. It is the Truth that is spoken in love that brings fruit. As we feed on that Truth from Christ’s Headship, another layer of His Spiritual Stature is laid on our Spiritual Stature. The Devil knows that if he can cause God’s people to fight one another rather than to love one another, he has already separated the Body and cut off the Working of God’s Headship. After we have grown up unto Christ, then out from Him comes a Working Power. Let us grow to the place in Him where we work together in love and in prayer until any injuries or hurts in the Body are healed.
