Our text is Revelation, chapter 5, which gives the stature of the vision of the Slain Lamb that was revealed to the Apostle John: (1) The Lamb was Slain, which speaks of fresh sacrifice and Blood. In order for us to know Jesus Christ in His Resurrection Power, we must know Him in the fellowship of His sufferings and allow His slaying Power to crucify our flesh and the self in our life. (2) The Slain Lamb has Seven Horns of Power. Seven is the number of completion. After His Resurrection, Jesus said, “[A]ll power is given unto me in heaven and in earth” (Matthew 28:18). He has all Power to help us to overcome our flesh, the world, and the Devil and to do all that He asks us to do. (3) The Slain Lamb has Seven Eyes or Spirits. He has the Full Stature of the Holy Ghost. The Candlestick in the Mosaic Tabernacle had seven Lamps of Fire that ministered in the Holy Place so that the Priests could see how to put the Incense, which pictured the Name of Jesus, upon the Altar. When the Fire of the Holy Ghost is joined to the Name, its sweet Fragrance, Power, and Covering, which show us how to take hold of that Name, are released. In order for us to see greater things done, we need more of that Fire of God’s Spirit to be joined to the Name Jesus. (4) The Slain Lamb Possessed the Book. He was the only One Who was found worthy to take the Book out of the Right Hand of Him Who sat upon the Throne, to reveal its Wisdom, and to receive the fourfold blessing of: (1) Blessing, (2) Honour, (3) Glory, and (4) Power from: (1) The Living Creatures, (2) The Twenty-four Elders, (3) The Angels, and (4) The Whole Creation. When we have this vision of the Slain Lamb, we understand why He is worthy to receive praise, exaltation, worship, and adoration. Then, when we are used of God to help others, we are able to give all the glory and power to God rather than to gloat and to delight as though it was our own power that did the job. When we have a vision of the Slain Lamb, we are inspired to say, “Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.”
