God has two kinds of Fire—the Holy Ghost Fire (Matthew 3:11; Acts 2:3) and the unquenchable Fire of Hell and the Lake of Fire (Mark 9:43). Jesus said, “For every one shall be salted with fire, and every sacrifice shall be salted with salt” (Mark 9:49). Every human being will have Fire upon him, either the Holy Ghost Fire or the unquenchable Fire of Hell. When Jesus said, “Every sacrifice shall be salted with salt,” what kind of Salt was He talking about? It was the Salt of Fire. Some people will never know about the Salt of God’s Word or the Salt of Jesus; nevertheless, every person will know about the Salt of Fire—either the Salt of the Holy Ghost Fire or the Salt of the unquenchable Fire. Salt Fire preserves. The Salt of the Holy Ghost Fire preserves the Spiritual Man inside us while it burns up the chaff round about Him, and the Salt of the unquenchable Fire preserves the spirits and souls of sinners while God ministers His Judgment. They will suffer and yet not be consumed. This lesson also covers the Meat or Meal Offering in Leviticus, chapter 2, which spoke of Jesus as the Bread of Life and of His suffering to become that Bread. There were five ways that the Meal Offering was offered. One way was uncooked, and there were four ways that it was cooked: (1) Cakes or wafers of unleavened fine flour were baked in the oven (Leviticus 2:4), (2) Unleavened fine flour was cooked in a flat griddle pan or iron (Leviticus 2:5), (3) Unleavened fine flour was cooked in a frying pan (Leviticus 2:7). There were no lumps or unevenness in the fine flour Offerings, as they pictured Jesus’ going through the mill of suffering to become Fine Flour, as it were. (4) Their firstfruits of corn were dried by the Fire and beaten (Leviticus 2:14). Are we willing for God to take us through the fire of suffering and to beat and bruise us so that we may take on Christ’s Humility and become a Bread Offering unto Him? These offerings were always offered with oil, which pictured the Holy Ghost, and with frankincense, which pictured faith, and with salt, which pictured preservation. The cooked meal showed the type of surrender, humility, and obedience that God wants to work in us as we feed upon the Bread of Christ’s Affliction.
